Reach Wrestling – 365 Days Later (7th July 2019) Preview

“In THE BEGINNING, they came together, and set a tone. They ignited a fire and unleashed a fury within the South West. Then that fury grew, became a passion, a call for an Army to follow, as they bared witness to that of the SECOND COMING.

And as that Army set on their way, the glory of two excellent events one after the other, there was great rejoicing as they witnessed ACT 3. The fury, the passion, and the rejoicing would become one, lead to the no limits of THURSDAY NIGHT REACH, when the people learned…If you know…you know.

But then the Army would hear the trumpets, the beckon to the call, the anticipation in preparation, as they would witness the desire of those who seek the JOURNEY FOR THE GOLD.

As they reach the culmination of the build, the end in sight, as they narrowed the field of the FINAL FOUR and succeeded in their INVASION, they look back over the 365 DAYS gone past and rejoice.

Sunday 7th July. It’s Time. The Army will stand in support, prepared for War. The history of REACH has been written in Gold and Blood. The future is unknown, but has one guarantee…

The Army will be there, at the altar of REACH WRESTLING.”

Anniversary Battle Royal Match For A Title Shot Of Their Choosing:

‘Dancing’ Daddy Bainsley Vs Blake Harrison Vs Danny Duggan Vs Joey Seven Vs ‘The Number One’ Vinnie Clay Vs Jason King Vs ‘The Winner’ PJ Jones Vs Jacob Kitto Vs Danny Steele Vs Xander Grey

365 Days Later - Battle Royal

Vinnie Clay is making his return to the squared circle after a year on commentary with an impassioned determination to throw everyone over the top rope and go on to face the winner of the Reach Heavyweight Championship. Clay is an underrated wrestler who hasn’t had an opportunity to truly prove what a talent he is.

Three former opponents of the hated Joseph Miller will feature in this PPV, whether the happy-go-lucky ‘Dancing’ Daddy Bainsley, the Internationally travelled Blake Harrison, and the dangerously dark Xander Grey, all determined to portray a good showing of themselves. All three men were last seen limping out of the arena following Miller’s cruel defeats of them, and all three will want to banish the audience’s last perceptions of them.

Jason King and PJ Jones’ ongoing bitter feud has culminated in a challenge, whichever one wins, the other will perform a forfeit of the winner’s choosing. Two of the biggest stars in Reach Wrestling, Jones is coming off an excellent effort against Eddie Ryan at Reach: Invasion and is adamant of his victory, whilst King is physically 100% for the first time in a long time, and what better story than for the man behind Reach Wrestling to earn a title shot of his own.

Danny Duggan has only previously appeared once for Reach Wrestling, having featured in a Six-Pack match at Thursday Night Reach, but showed just enough ability to make him a dark horse option in this match. Surprises are possible.

The Reach Academy will feature several representatives, including debutant Jacob Kitto, a stern and bearded bad*** determined to make his mark in Reach Wrestling, whilst Danny Steele made an unsuccessful debut at Reach: Invasion against trainer Jason King. Joey Seven has featured in two matches for Reach Wrestling, being eliminated in a four-on-three elimination match at Final Four and losing to Josh Knott in a solid effort at Reach: Invasion but has shown enough potential to make him a challenge on anybody in the match.

Ten men currently announced for this match, with the winner earning an opportunity to choose a title shot of their choosing, an opportunity unprecedented for all these men. There is still the possibility of a surprise appearance, maybe from someone like Joseph Miller, who would be the type to take advantage of such a Championship opportunity. But for the moment, there are several possible winners in a strong field, in only the second Battle Royal in Reach Wrestling history, after Josh Knott’s victory for a Reach Contract at The Beginning.

First Round Match For The Reach Tag Team Championship:

Pretty Deadly Vs The Brothers Awe

365 Days Later - Pretty Deadly Vs Brothers Awe.jpg

Lewis Howley and Sam Stoker of Pretty Deadly are a successful tag team who are popular in IPW, with Stoker making an appearance as Sammy Smooth at Thursday Night Reach in a good performance in the Six-Man-Pack. Pretty Deadly are a smooth, fast paced and high flying tag team who epitomise smoothness (they demonstrated a kip-up with their hands in their pockets at Return Of The PAC) and could impress the audience with a tremendous performance. However, they will be facing audience favourites The Brothers Awe, who recently lost at Final Four to Heritage City Hitmen, which will leave them desperate to win this match. The winner of this match will go on to join Man Like Beano in the next round for the Reach Tag Team Championship, who defeated Experiment In Terror in an excellent match at Reach: Invasion. It says something when the match probably least hyped for features two of the best tag teams in British Wrestling, but this match could surprise and steal the event.

Six-Man Ladder Match For Within Reach Contract

(Winner Gets A Title Shot At A Time Of Their Choosing):

Charlie Sterling Vs Beano Vs ‘Bronco’ Brendan White Vs Lucian Phillips Vs Lance Cole Vs ‘Country Big’ Josh Knott

365 Days Later - Within Reach Contract.jpg

Six of the biggest stars in Reach history come together, in the first ever ladder match in Reach history. Hanging above the ring will be a Reach contract, also the first in Reach Wrestling’s history, where the winner can get a title shot at a time of their choosing, with all six men strong contenders for this opportunity. Lance Cole and Lucian Phillips are probably the most surprising inclusions, with Cole having debuted five months ago at Thursday Night Reach in an unsuccessful attempt against Eddie Ryan, meaning if Ryan was to win the Championship, he will want revenge. Since then, Cole lost to Beano in an underrated match at Journey For The Gold, but more importantly, he cost Phillips a match against PJ Jones at Thursday Night Reach. Since that interference, Lucian Phillips has been determined to exact revenge on Cole, with the two getting double counted out at Final Four, which means I wouldn’t be surprised to see the two destroy each other and cancel one another out.

The next two favourites, Beano and Josh Knott, have been ever presents since The Beginning, with a mini-feud between the two. Josh Knott shocked many when he won the first ever Battle Royal to earn a one year Reach Contract, and defeated Beano at the following event, beginning their feud that would culminate in a tag team match, Beano and Dick Riley defeating Knott and partner Brendan White. Knott would end up being one of the eight men chosen for the Journey For The Gold tournament, losing to eventual finalist Joel Redman, but he’s already proven that he can surprise audiences as a dark horse victor. Beano, on the other hand, has become an undoubted crowd favourite, the underdog favourite bouncing back from the early days of a losing streak to become a Star, having won his last three matches in a tag team match to advance in the tournament for the Tag Team Titles, being the sole survivor of a four-on-three man Elimination match, and outsmarting Lance Cole at Journey For The Gold. Beano has proven his ability to win against the odds, but could this be a step too far?

The two favourites for the match, surprisingly, may be two of the biggest heels in Reach Wrestling, ‘Bronco’ Brendan White and Charlie Sterling. White has been on an unsuccessful losing streak the last couple of events, including his appearance in the Reach Heavyweight Title Tournament, where the audience were drowning him in vitriol and hatred, and he loved every bit of it. White has grown to hate the town of Plymouth, and co-owners Grayson Reeves and Jason King, and nothing would please this man more than to win the Reach Contract, rub it in everyone’s faces, and take the Reach Heavyweight Championship back to Wales. The only man who needs to win more than anyone: Charlie Sterling. Eddie Ryan, Big Grizzly, Jody Fleisch, ‘Dirty’ Dick Riley, four men who have defeated Sterling in concurrent matches, slowly driving Sterling insane. Ever since his loss to Eddie Ryan in the main event of the inaugural show, Sterling has had one aim, to earn a rematch against his hated rival Ryan, including attacks at ACT 3 and Final Four, to no avail. If Sterling was to win the Contract, you can guarantee he will be looking to cash in his Contract on Eddie Ryan if he wins the Championship, to finally vanquish his one year obsession. One thing you can guarantee, is that this match has every possibility of stealing the entire event and being the best match in Reach history. Hyperbole? Maybe, but one thing Reach has taught me, nothing is impossible.

Singles Match:

‘Dirty’ Dick Riley Vs ‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch

365 Days Later - Dick Riley Vs Jody Fleisch

There are many ways to celebrate a One Year Anniversary. You could have a huge Battle Royal (done), you could feature a huge Tournament Final (that’s next), or even crown a Championship (three for three). Apart from that, there is one other thing you can do, and that is featuring one of the biggest talents in British history, the Godfather of the high-flying highlight reel, a living legend who has featured in Frontiers Wrestling Alliance, Ring Of Honor, Combat Zone Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, and put on an excellent main event at Thursday Night Reach against Sterling, the one and only, ‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch. This man is one of the best British talents of the last twenty plus years, and he could wrestle anybody on the roster, and nobody deserves it more than ‘Dirty’ Dick Riley.

Since his debut at The Beginning, Dick has grown into one of the biggest favourites in Reach Wrestling, with a singles winning streak against Grayson Reeves (great match), ‘Bronco’ Brendan White (good match), Charlie Sterling (possibly the greatest match I have ever seen live), which was ruined by a ‘disqualification’ loss to finalist Joel Redman. Currently having advanced in the Tag Team Tournament alongside Beano, and with a legitimate claim for the first ever Reach Championship title shot, Riley has proven himself one of the best wrestlers on the Reach roster, an undoubted star beloved by fans, smooth and entertaining, and this is an absolute dream match for fans galore. Every time I see Fleisch perform, I flashback to the late 90’s when I saw him perform at the Guildhall, a true favourite of my childhood, but there’s few in British wrestling that have impressed me more than Riley. Whoever wins this match, it doesn’t matter, as the audience will witness a possible classic.

Tournament Final for the REACH Heavyweight Championship Match:

‘English Lion’ Eddie Ryan Vs Joel Redman

365 Days Later - Ryan Vs Redman.jpg

“Time to lace up your boots, and prepare for war, tape up your wrists and march on out the door, Victory is determined by the bravery of the bold, as they prepare for sacrifice on their Journey…For Gold.

Upon the Squared Circle stepped eight men, who all believed they would win and thereby progress. A Cowboy was shot down, a Flexing celebrity was beaten, a Country Boy was outwrestled and a Showstealer couldn’t achieve success.

Our tournament was left with an English Lion, a Man Born 4 Wrestling, the Next representative of wrestling excellence, and a pearl of brilliance shrouded in dirt. They had all achieved victory against the odds, and now with momentum on their side, they hoped to win again and reassert.

Whoever won would climb the mountain, and meet their equal, the one man who may end their tourney. Ryan, Grayson, Redman and Riley focused on Gold and attempted to successfully complete their journey.

As the dust settled, the blood dripped and the sweat stained the mat, the pearl was left betrayed and disqualified, a manipulation of fact, whilst the man to whom wrestling was born, his chances died in his land of birth, and the Lion cemented himself as an equal on his home turf.

As the clock ticked, tocked, ran down the clock, the sands of time grew from minutes since, to days past, and months afar, until the grains reached three hundred and sixty five days later. The Lion, Eddie Ryan, the conqueror of the flexing celeb and a pillar of the company, shall stand across from Joel Redman, the one man he’s never defeated, never pinned, his duplicator.

The bell shall ring, and two behemoths will meet. They will battle, strike, bleed, stagger, but will refuse defeat. They will fight until they cannot stand, they will throw every weapon, every move, every strike will land. The crowds will cheer, the Army will boo, they will jump and wince, every emotion stricken anew. But in the end, once exhaustion and pain will overwhelm those involved, the question for our journey will be solved.

There will be one man, one victor. They will stop, breathe, and feel the moment, the history engulf them, live it. Ryan or Redman, one will stand, body teeming in sweat and blood, staggering to the ropes, struggling to stand, unable to believe it. Until they see that which they battled for: the Reach Heavyweight Championship. Challengers will rise, Champions will fall, history books will fill with names and verse. But no member of the Reach Army will forget where they were when they saw the unveiling, not of just any Champion…

But the first.”

Eddie Ryan. Joel Redman. The first ever rematch in Reach Wrestling. The crowning of the first ever Reach Heavyweight Champion. History in the making. One of these two men will end the match with their hand raised and title aloft. The only question would be, will they still be the one walking out of the arena as Champion? Either way, you better get your ticket for this Sunday, as the Reach Army will bear witness to possibly the strongest card in Reach Wrestling history, one worthy of celebrating the first year anniversary.
