THURSDAY NIGHT REACH: THE REVIEW

The feel before the first bell was electric. It was an atmosphere I had not felt before at a local event here in Plymouth. Maybe it was because it was 18+ or it was because of the star names involved. One thing was for certain, the crowd were ready to rock and the question on everyone’s lips was can Reach live up to the hype? That question was about to be answered as the first bell rang.

LANCE COLE V EDDIE RYAN

Eddie Ryan Vs Lance Cole

Lance Cole enters playing heel, telling the crowd exactly what he thinks of them and their opinions. The crowd responds in kind with a w****r chant. The home town favorite followed, Eddie Ryan gets his usual massive response as he enters from the Plymouth crowd.  An early verbal exchange is followed by Cole losing his pants followed by a swift chop to the rear from Ryan.

Cole and Ryan start to counter each other until Ryan drops Cole onto the rails, with Cole landing on his crown jewels. The match ends with Ryan landing a Tombstone Piledriver on Cole. 1,2,3 Ryan wins. A good strong start to the night.

KNOTT V SMOOTH V DUGGAN V SIXX V DIEHARD V BEANO

Fatal 4 Way TNR

Next up was supposed to be a Fatal Four Way match between Josh Knott, Kelly Sixx, Sammy Smooth and Danny Duggan. As the match was about to start Diehard music hits and out walks the giant. The others look at each other. It’s clear to see they are in awe of the pure size of Diehard. Music hits again. Reach fan favourite Beano has arrived. The crowd are in raptures and even the inflatable sheep Linda appears, and this seems to distract Knott as all Reach followers know he loves Linda.

All the wrestlers performed well but it was quite hard to follow just for the sheer amount of action going on inside and out of the ring. Diehard was beautifully violent, and Sammy Smooth loved up to his name with some beautifully executed moves. Beano looked like picking up the win until Knott hits him with a cow bell. 1,2,3 Knott wins. Much to Linda’s delight.

TEAM REACH V THE MAGNUMS

Team Reach Vs The Magnums

The match starts with Team Reach being flabbergasted as Walker shows of his manhood to his opponents. The start to brawl all over the arena, stopping at the bar to share a few rounds of shots before the action continues.

A comedy highlight of the night was Walker with a condom on both hands and placing one in Kings mouth and the other in his rear. After this, he looked at King and said bad news the condom split to which the ground responded with loud laughter.  The Magnums set up Team Reach for a double finish, but Reach reverse and pick up the win.

After the match, Team Reach (Jason King and Grayson Reeves) announce that Reach have a new venue. Bodmin Jail. The crowd go wild.

PJ JONES V PSYCHO PHILLIPS

Psycho Phillips Vs PJ Jones

Okay, before I review this match, I must admit I love PJ Jones. In my humble opinion, he is the best heel in the South West working today. Yet again, Jones had the crowd in the palm of his hand. They were firmly in the corner of Phillips.

Psycho hits Jones was a flurry of dominant chops. You can visibly see the pain on Jones face. Phillips is controlling the match. Phillips picks up a chair and screams ‘He’s dead’. Only for Lance Cole to interfere and throw powder into the eyes of Phillips. Jones crawls onto Phillips and grabs the win.

SIERRA LOXTON V CANDYFLOSS V MILLIE MCKENZIE V GISELLE SHAW

This was the match I was waiting for. After being advertised as a triple threat match, the crowd went wild for the surprise appearance of Impact star Giselle Shaw. This match was awesome, seeing Candy Floss and Millie decide to team up against the Shaw and Loxton after they earlier in the match decided to become an unhealthy union.

Loxton and Shaw started to dominate the other 2, that was until Shaw tried to pick up a quick pinfall with a small package against Loxton. Loxton and Shaw turned on each other which allowed Floss and Mckenzie to break them down using various submission holds. Millie beautifully German Suplexes Shaw only for Loxton to sneak in with the cover of Shaw.

This angers Millie and she and Loxton are in a stare off with the crowd chanting let them fight as the ref is stood between them. Then boom Millie attacks Luxton and with help on CandyFloss leaves Loxton a heap on the floor.

CHARLIE STERLING V JODY FLEISCH

Jody Fleisch vs Charlie Sterling

Time for the main event. My god this match didn’t disappoint, and I can safely say it was the best match I have ever seen live. It started off with both guys putting on classic wrestling holds, that was until they left the ring. They started to brawl through the crowd with Fleisch slamming Sterling onto a table, before hitting a Hurricarana to Sterling onto another table.

They then started fighting at the bar with a cameo from Beano, who was drinking at the time and Sterling didn’t take kindly to Beano being in the way of one of his moves. Eventually, the wrestlers found their way back to the ring where Sterling accidentally knocked out the ref. However, he used this opportunity to go backstage and reenter with a piece of steel. Sterling goes to hit Jody, but he reverses it into a DDT landing Sterling’s head straight onto the tray. Jody covers, but no ref. The crowd chant a count, they get to 7 before Sterling begins to stir.

Sterling low blows Fleisch followed by a Styles Clash and a Tombstone. Sterling Covers. 2 count. Amazing strength by Jody to kick out of that one. Fleisch then hits his own low blow followed by the use of the steel tray and then a Phoenix 720 DDT for the win. Amazing match.

It was an amazing main event to end an awesome night. In answer to the question at the beginning of this blog. Yes, yes, yes Reach could live up to the hype. I for one hope there will be more Thursday Night Reach.
